Each month about 3 days before the full moon and 3 days after skiing is excellent if there is a clear sky. Usually if you are outside without lights on and you can see shadows of tree branches it will be fine for skiing.
On the full moon the sunset and the moon rise occur at the same time. Since the moon comes up an hour later each night, usually the nights just before the full moon and the night of the full moon are the best skiing.
At our Cooknell site the club usually picks one night each full moon and has a fire and serves hot chocolate to members who are out skiing.
In 2016 - 2017 the full moon dates are:
Tues to Thurs December 13/14/15
Wed to Fri January 11/12/13
Friday February 10/11
Saturday March 11/12/13
Monday April 10/11/12
